Banking News – More than 16,300 LPG gas cylinders were distributed to consumers in Kathmandu Valley over Saturday and Sunday through designated sales points coordinated by the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) and the District Administration Office.
The distribution was arranged after increasing complaints from consumers that they were unable to obtain cooking gas easily through regular dealers. The NOC had established distribution points at 10 locations across Kathmandu and Bhaktapur to supply cylinders from different gas companies to consumers with urgent needs.

On Saturday, LPG cylinders were distributed from Teku, Babarmahal, Chabahil, Kirtipur and Basundhara in Kathmandu.
On Sunday, designated sales points were operated at Teku, Budhanilkantha, Kirtipur, New Bazaar, Tarakeshwar, Chandragiri and Thimi. According to NOC spokesperson Manoj Thakur, a total of 9,568 cylinders were sold through the seven distribution points on Sunday.
The NOC said 6,802 cylinders were distributed on Saturday, bringing the two-day total to more than 16,300 cylinders.
The corporation said that from Bhadra 1, regular LPG distribution would resume through dealers appointed by the respective gas companies. Consumers have been advised to contact the gas dealer convenient to them and purchase cylinders through the regular distribution system.
The LPG shortage emerged after the government began supplying 14.2-kg cylinders from Asar 31, following a period of approximately four months during which consumers had been receiving only half cylinders. The sudden shift to full-size cylinders contributed to a sharp shortage in the market, according to the NOC.
