Banking News – The Nepal Chamber of Commerce has expressed serious concern over public remarks claiming that the five-star Radisson Hotel was holding an excessive stock of LPG gas cylinders.

The Chamber said releasing contextually inappropriate information that could negatively affect the hotel’s business reputation is not constructive for the private sector or the broader tourism industry.

The remarks were made following a recent inspection conducted under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies and the Nepal Oil Corporation, during which the hotel was reportedly found to have a large stock of LPG cylinders.

Responding to the remarks, the Chamber clarified that the consumption of around 50 to 60 LPG cylinders per day at a five-star hotel is normal given the scale of its operations.

According to the Chamber, maintaining approximately 200 LPG cylinders in stock is also not unusual when considering the hotel’s daily consumption and operational requirements. It said it would be inappropriate to label such a stock as abnormal or link it to illegal activities without considering the hotel’s legitimate commercial needs.

The Nepal Chamber of Commerce emphasized that it does not support artificial shortages, illegal trading or any activities that violate the law.

However, the Chamber warned that exaggerated publicity that discourages legitimately operating businesses could negatively affect the investment climate. It urged all concerned stakeholders to exercise sensitivity and responsibility when making public statements about businesses.
