Banking News – Ncell has restored 14 mobile towers today in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading districts, which were affected by floods and landslides. Out of the total 27 sites affected in the three districts, 14 sites three in Rasuwa, eight in Nuwakot, and three in Dhading have been brought back into operation, Ncell stated.

Approximately 70-80 kilometers of fiber link were disrupted due to the disaster, affecting 27 Ncell mobile towers and causing service disruptions. After relentless efforts by Ncell’s technical team, 14 towers have been restored with the aim of providing continuous telecommunications services to customers and supporting rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts.

According to Lena Keshari Kansakar, Ncell’s Network Head, towers have been restored by repairing damaged fiber wherever possible, while in some locations, older microwave links have been used to restore network connectivity. She stated that coordination with internet service providers is also underway to restore fiber connectivity in some areas.

According to her, Ncell had mobilized its technical teams to the affected areas via both air and land routes to restore the network disrupted by the flood and landslides. With the support and coordination of government agencies, the teams were able to reach the affected areas and successfully repair and restore the network.

Meanwhile, at 12:47 PM today, an additional 18 sites were affected when fiber was cut during debris removal in the Galchi area of Dhading. Ncell stated that it immediately mobilized technical teams and restored all 18 sites as well.

Ncell has stated that maintaining continuous telecommunications services during this difficult time of disaster is crucial for making rescue and relief efforts effective. The company has been working with high priority to restore the network to provide communication services for citizens in affected areas to stay in contact with their families and relatives, and to coordinate necessary rescue and relief efforts.

Ncell has expressed gratitude to the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, information and communication-related agencies, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Nepali Army, and other relevant government agencies, as well as organizations including Huawei and ZTE, for their support during network restoration.

Ncell has expressed its commitment to stand with the affected communities during this difficult time of disaster and to continuously provide telecommunications services as much as possible by mobilizing its network and technical resources as needed.
