Banking News – A total of 178 bodies have been recovered from the Trishuli and Narayani rivers in Chitwan following the flood in Rasuwa. The bodies recovered from the rivers have been taken to Bharatpur Hospital, where they are being cleaned, photographed, tagged, and placed in “dead body bags” at the body management and identification center.

According to SP Rameshwar Poudel, Chief of Chitwan District Police Office, among the bodies recovered so far, there are 74 males, 41 females, six boys, and two girls. Additionally, 55 body parts have been recovered. Of these, 22 bodies have been taken to the identification center, while the rest are being cleaned and stored at Bharatpur Hospital. Some bodies are currently undergoing legal procedures at the river, he informed.

A “display” has been set up to identify the photographed bodies. Family members can identify the bodies by viewing the display, SP Poudel informed, adding that photographs of the bodies will also be uploaded on the Nepal Police portal.

The old building of the Industrial Business Development Institute, located near Bharatpur Hospital in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-10, adjacent to the Chitwan Industry Association, is being used as the body preservation and identification center. The building is being utilized for this purpose as there is insufficient space at the hospital to store the bodies.

SP Poudel informed that individuals coming to receive bodies based on identification will have their authenticity verified through identification documents and required paperwork. After identification, the bodies will be brought back to Bharatpur Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Nepal Police, the Nepali Army, and the Armed Police Force have been searching for bodies along the banks of the Trishuli and Narayani rivers in Chitwan since this morning. He informed that local residents and families of the missing have been reporting to security agencies when bodies are found along the riverbanks.
