Banking News – Among the bodies recovered from the riverine areas of the Trishuli and Narayani rivers following the devastating flood in the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa, 280 bodies have undergone forensic examination and DNA sample collection, and have been securely managed at the management site in Devghat, Chitwan.

According to Dr. Ram Prasad Sapkota, Spokesperson of Bharatpur Hospital, security personnel had been bringing bodies collected from the Trishuli River to the hospital for preservation since the night of Bhadau 10. From the morning of Bhadau 11, a team of doctors led by forensic experts was mobilized to conduct necessary forensic examinations, collect DNA and other biological samples, and document the bodies for identification purposes.

According to SP Rameshwar Poudel, Chief of Chitwan District Police Office, a total of 321 bodies have been collected from the Trishuli and Narayani rivers so far. Among them, 12 bodies have been identified and claimed by relatives. Among the collected bodies, there are 66 females, 116 males, seven boys, six girls, and 126 bodies that are unidentified or in an unidentifiable condition.

He stated that the bodies have been securely managed at the management site in Devghat in accordance with international standards for future identification. On Bhadau 13, 96 bodies were managed, followed by 103 bodies on Bhadau 14, and 81 bodies on Bhadau 15.

SP Poudel informed that the search for bodies along the riverbanks is still ongoing daily. He stated that bodies recovered from the river are brought to Bharatpur Hospital for forensic examination and DNA sample collection, and are then securely managed at the management site in Devghat.
