Banking News – Along with the management of bodies found in Chitwan, DNA samples are being collected from relatives of missing persons. According to SP Rameshwar Poudel, Chief of Chitwan District Police Office, a total of 363 bodies have been found in the district so far. As most of the bodies are in an unidentifiable condition, they have been managed through DNA testing and legal procedures.

So far, only 14 bodies among those found have been identified. SP Poudel informed that the identified bodies have been handed over to relatives after completing necessary legal procedures. He stated that the 349 unidentified bodies have been securely managed. Body management work was started from Bhadau 13.

DNA samples of all managed bodies have been securely preserved so they can be matched with relatives’ DNA in the future. Police have prioritized collecting DNA samples from relatives to identify missing persons. So far, DNA samples from 75 relatives in the district have been collected and sent to the forensic laboratory. Police have stated that the collected samples also include DNA samples of relatives of Indian citizens.
