Banking News – The government has begun printing driving licenses through the Electronic Driving License and Vehicle Registration System (EDL/VRS), implemented from Shrawan 1. The Department of Transport Management under the Ministry of Infrastructure Development has adopted this new technology to resolve the complex problem of license printing that had been piling up for a long time due to excessive pressure of service seekers.

With the implementation of this new system, the entire process of obtaining new licenses and renewing old ones is expected to become faster, easier, and more technology-friendly. Under EDL/VRS, the details of service seekers uploaded will go directly to the Security Printing Center, which will print the licenses and send them to the concerned Transport Management Service Offices through the postal service.

Starting the new technology, in the first phase, 3,081 driving licenses of Madhesh Province have been printed and sent to the concerned offices through the postal service for distribution, according to the Department.

Under the new arrangement, provincial governments can print licenses themselves by signing agreements with the Security Printing Center. Accordingly, the Madhesh Province government has signed an agreement with the Security Printing Center and is printing licenses under its own management. Similarly, the Lumbini Province government also signed an agreement with the Security Printing Center on Friday and started printing driving licenses.

In cases where provincial governments have not signed agreements with the Security Printing Center, arrangements for license printing have been made in coordination between the Department of Transport Management and the Security Printing Center, keeping in mind the pressure and problems of service seekers. The Ministry of Infrastructure Development has stated that with the implementation of license printing through the new system, arrangements have come into effect to manage printing responsibilities according to provinces and provide driving licenses to service seekers in an easy, fast, and timely manner.
