Banking News – Traffic light installation work has begun in Narayangadh and Bharatpur, the main urban areas of Chitwan district. Traffic lights are being installed at six different locations along the six-lane Pulchowk-Gondrang road and bypass road. Construction company operator Suman Thapa informed that work began at Pulchowk and Shahid Chowk on Monday for traffic light installation. After completing pole installation at six locations earlier, the work of installing lights has now begun.

Traffic management has been problematic after the road became wider. Traffic lights are being installed at Pulchowk, Shahid Chowk, Chaubis Kothi, Hakim Chowk, Malpot Chowk, and the Central Bus Park under the federal government’s budget. Traffic lights are being installed at locations with high vehicular movement. According to Rakesh Maharjan, Head of the Road Safety and Traffic Section at the Department of Roads, work that should have been completed in the previous fiscal year was delayed due to the construction company’s delay.

“The work of installing lights has now begun. It will be completed soon,” he said. He stated that there was some delay due to the Gen Z protests as well. In the meantime, although the contractor company requested an extension after delaying the import of lights, the department had rejected it.

He stated that work is now being carried out by imposing a daily fine on the construction company. A contract agreement worth Rs 1 crore 23 lakh 14 thousand 260, including Value Added Tax, was signed on Shrawan 20, 2082, for installing lights at six intersections in Bharatpur Metropolitan City. According to the agreement, construction work was to be completed by Chaitra 20, 2082.

Chitrasen Adhikari, Acting Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, stated that the metropolitan city had long been requesting the Department of Roads to install traffic lights at locations with high vehicular pressure and risk. He stated that although the department started work accordingly, there were delays. He stated that traffic light installation will facilitate smooth traffic flow and reduce accidents.
