Banking News – With heavy to very heavy rainfall forecast across various parts of the country for three days starting this Friday, stakeholder mechanisms in Sudurpashchim Province have been kept on standby for disaster response while maintaining vigilance.

Sanjay Kumar Shah, Acting Chief of the Hydrology and Meteorology Office, Attariya, Kailali, said:

“An alert has been issued to maintain high vigilance in Bajhang, Bajura, Darchula, and Achham, which are at high risk from potential rainfall. Since rainfall will occur in the Chure region, these two districts have also been kept at high risk and an alert has been issued.”

Barta Raj Poudel, Chief District Officer of Darchula, a high-risk hilly district in Sudurpashchim, said:

“Information has been issued down to the citizen level to avoid potential disaster situations following possible rainfall. We have kept excavators on standby to immediately clear road blockages, and have arranged food supplies for two months.”

He stated that preparations have been made to the extent possible with available resources.

Mukesh Kumar Keshari, Chief District Officer of Bajhang, said:

“Discussions are ongoing with the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding pre-preparation. Since Bajhang has been kept at high risk, disaster response preparations are being made accordingly.”

Ramesh Kumar Pandey, Senior Superintendent of Armed Police Force, Shree No. 7 Baidyanath Battalion, Attariya, said:

“According to information received from the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the Armed Police Force has made disaster response preparations. During this period, leave has not been granted to Armed Police Force personnel. Along with Armed Police Force units deployed in Sudurpashchim, 14 temporary disaster security camps have been kept on standby for disasters here. Coordination is ongoing between stakeholder agencies and the security mechanism.”

It has been stated that the low-pressure area around the central part of the Bay of Bengal is becoming more powerful, and its impact will also be felt in Nepal. As there is a risk of floods, landslides, and inundation due to heavy rainfall, security committees have been preparing for response, advising necessary precautions. The Nepali Army has also stated that disaster response preparations have been completed in Sudurpashchim Province. The Nepali Army has stated that helicopters have been kept on standby at the Sudurpashchim Division for the rescue and relief of affected citizens.
