Banking News – Meteorologist Rajan Lamichhane has stated that rainfall activity will increase further in the western region over the next two days. Due to the influence of the low-pressure system developed in the Bay of Bengal, rainfall is occurring in most parts of the country.

Meteorologist Rajan Lamichhane of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has informed that in the last 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred in most places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. He stated that more than 140 millimeters of rainfall was measured at the Archale weather station in Palpa. He stated that since continuous rainfall has been occurring in various places for the past two days and heavy to very heavy rainfall has occurred in some areas, the risk of floods and landslides has increased.

“Currently, the low-pressure system is located in Chhattisgarh, India, and surrounding areas, and will gradually move toward Nepal, with its impact shifting toward the western region starting today,” said Meteorologist Lamichhane.

“Today and tomorrow, rainfall activity is expected to be higher especially in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, while rainfall activity in the eastern region will gradually decrease and there is a possibility of improvement in the weather.”

He stated that the low-pressure system is forecast to gradually shift westward until Saturday, Ashoj 10, and rainfall activity may increase in areas of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces. Although the weather is expected to improve in the eastern region on Sunday, Ashoj 11, the influence of the system will remain in the western region. According to the department’s forecast, the weather across the country will gradually improve from Ashoj 12, and the impact of rainfall will decrease further from Ashoj 13.

Meteorologist Lamichhane stated that since weather systems can change continuously, the department is monitoring it and will continue to update forecasts and warnings as needed. He urged people not to travel unnecessarily and to exercise necessary caution, paying attention to the risk of floods, landslides, and inundation in areas where heavy rainfall is occurring and warnings have been issued.
