Banking News – The National Human Rights Commission has summoned Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Santosh Khadka, Chief of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, for questioning regarding the incident of taking former Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Jabara into custody.

The Commission, writing to Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, on Monday, has asked for SSP Khadka to be presented before the Commission on Tuesday (Ashoj 13). According to Dr. Tikaram Pokharel, Spokesperson of the Commission, Khadka has been summoned for discussion and questioning regarding the matter of the Commission’s team being denied entry when it went to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office in Teku for monitoring after Jabara was arrested.

“He has been called for discussion regarding the matter of the former Chief Justice being arrested on Sunday and the Commission’s team not being allowed to monitor afterward,” Spokesperson Pokharel said. On Sunday, a three-member team including Commission member Manoj Duwadi had gone to the office in Teku where Jabara was being held for monitoring and a meeting. However, after police did not allow the Commission’s team to enter the office, the team returned after waiting outside for about 35 minutes.

Jabara was taken into custody by a team of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office from his residence in Maharajgunj on Sunday morning, citing security risks. After being taken into custody, he was brought to the office in Teku at around 3 AM.

After receiving information that Jabara had been taken into custody, the Commission’s team had gone to the office for monitoring. Commission officials had also informed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Bahadur Karki through phone and message. However, the Commission has stated that its team was still not allowed to enter the office.
