Banking News – Following the initiative of Minister for Agriculture, Forests and Environment Gita Chaudhary, the farmer registration campaign has gained momentum. Recently, nearly 3 lakh farmers have been added to the farmer registration system. According to the ministry, so far 26 lakh 79 thousand farmers have been registered in the farmer registration system across the country. The ministry has stated that registration has been prioritized to ensure the actual identification of farmers and to make agricultural sector programs data-based.

The ministry states that the number of registrations has increased after Minister Chaudhary urged mandatory implementation of farmer registration. The ministry has directed all subordinate offices, agencies, and projects to mandatorily use the farmer registration number of the concerned beneficiary farmers when operating agricultural programs.

The ministry has stated that the objective of farmer registration is to identify actual farmers, prepare data-based agricultural plans, and maintain transparency and good governance in services and facilities provided by the state.

The ministry has urged relevant agencies to effectively implement the registration system to ensure access of actual farmers to agricultural services including grants and fertilizer distribution provided under government agricultural programs. The ministry has stated that in the days ahead, it will make the system more effective by connecting farmer registration more systematically with agricultural services and facilities.
