Banking News – Targeting festivals including Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath, Salt Trading Corporation Limited has brought subsidized price shops into operation in Banepa and Dhulikhel of Kavre. There has been increased pressure from consumers purchasing festival goods at the subsidized price shops, which have been brought into operation with the objective of intervening in potential price hikes in the market during festivals and providing daily consumer goods to consumers at affordable rates.
The subsidized price shop operated at the Corporation’s distribution center at Tindobato in Banepa will remain in operation until Chhath. The shop will remain open every day of the week, including Saturday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. According to Surendra Awa, Office Chief of Salt Trading Corporation Banepa Branch, a special price list has been determined. At the shop, the price of salt has been set at Rs 24 and the price of sugar at Rs 100 per kilogram.

Similarly, the price of 25 kilograms of Bhansaghar Steem Jeera Masino rice has been set at Rs 2,580. Rice of various brands including Mangalam, Palki, Nishchal, Natinatini, and Bahuli have also been kept for sale with discounts. According to the price list, Musuro dal is being sold at Rs 140 per kilogram, Rahar dal at Rs 210, Mas dal at Rs 205, and Chana dal at Rs 155. The office has stated that Mung dal, various types of beans, and legumes are also available at discounted prices.
Flour and refined flour of Manshree and Siwalik brands, millet and buckwheat flour, and corn and barley sattu have also been kept for sale. Under ghee and oil, DDC ghee is available at Rs 1,140, Shanti mustard oil at Rs 380, and Tripti mustard oil at Rs 270. Sunbeam sunflower oil has also been kept for sale.
Similarly, organic garlic, ginger, cinnamon, chili, turmeric, and other spices, as well as tea of various brands, are also available. The Corporation has stated that discounts have been provided on other household items besides food grains.
Office Chief Awa stated that STC gas cylinders are available at Rs 2,165, Lunar’s 2,000-watt induction cooktop at Rs 4,960, and shopping bags at Rs 35. He urged consumers to purchase essential consumer goods conveniently and easily during the festivals.
Consumers have felt relief after getting food grains and household items at cheaper rates at the subsidized price shop compared to the open market. Local consumer Ramita Nepali of Banepa, who was purchasing goods at the shop, stated that Salt Trading providing salt, oil, rice, and lentils at cheap rates at the mouth of the festivals at a time when inflation has increased in the market has been a great relief for ordinary people like them. She said, “This has made it easier to manage household expenses.”
