Banking News – As Bada Dashain approaches, the rush of customers shopping has increased in Bhrikutimandap and various other open markets in Kathmandu. The activity of customers who have come to purchase new clothes and essential items for Dashain in the open markets here has increased compared to other times.

As the number of customers purchasing new clothes for family members, relatives, and children for Dashain has increased, traders in markets including Bhrikutimandap also appear busy. Ashok Khatiwada, a trader at a fancy shop in the open market at Bhrikutimandap, stated that customers are busy selecting clothes, inquiring about prices, and purchasing items they need at Bhrikutimandap and various other shops.

According to him, customer traffic in the market has started increasing in the past few days. He stated that the number of customers purchasing clothes especially needed for children, youth, and senior citizens has increased significantly. “As Dashain approaches, the number of customers buying clothes is increasing day by day. More activity has been seen in the market since this morning than before,” Khatiwada said. Another trader, Shyam Prakash Adhikari, stated that since it is a Nepali tradition to wear new clothes during Dashain, clothing business increases during the festival season.

According to him, with the increased rush of customers, traders are having a hard time showing goods, helping customers select clothes according to their preference, quoting prices, and managing sales. “The presence of customers purchasing clothes needed for Dashain, as well as shoes, slippers, children’s items, and various daily consumer goods, has increased at Bhrikutimandap,” he said.

Traders say the number of people shopping in open markets has increased because various types of goods are available in one place and customers can select goods according to their budget. Traders say that during the festival season, cheap markets are preferred by families with limited income. Traders say that since clothes, textiles, and other items are available somewhat cheaper in various open markets in the Kathmandu Valley, roadside night shops, and compared to shopping malls and large commercial centers, customer attraction increases.

Sangita Neupane, who has been selling clothes and textiles at a night street stall in Sundhara, also stated that customer traffic has increased as Dashain approaches. According to her, since clothes must be purchased for all family members during the festival, customers pay attention to both price and quality. Along with Dashain, as the weather has also started gradually improving, customers purchasing clothes needed for cold weather have also started appearing in the market.

Hari Krishna Kandel, a trader, stated that the number of customers purchasing especially jackets, sweaters, tracksuits, hoodies, and other warm clothes is also increasing. Traders expect customer pressure to increase further in markets including Bhrikutimandap, Asan, Indrachowk, New Road, Sundhara, and New Sadak in the Kathmandu Valley as festivals including Dashain approach. Along with those from the valley, citizens who have come to Kathmandu from outside districts to purchase materials needed for the festivals have also started getting busy shopping.

Traders have also increased the stock of various types of goods targeting Dashain. They say that clothes of various designs, colors, and prices for children, women, and men have been placed in the market according to customer demand. Customers have been selecting goods according to their budget and interest.
