Banking News – Nine more individuals have been arrested in the government procurement system hacking case. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) had earlier arrested contractors and hackers last Chaitra and filed cases against 22 individuals. In the course of the second phase of investigation, additional contractors have been arrested.
During the investigation, it has been revealed that after the deadline for submitting bids expired, they would view the financial proposals of competitors and then revise their own proposals to secure the contract. Previous investigation had revealed that hackers abroad were also used for this purpose and that they were paid through cryptocurrency.

In the case, Diwakar Deuja, a computer operator at the Ministry of Urban Development, is being investigated as the main mastermind. He is currently in prison. After the first phase of investigation in this case, CIB had filed a case at the Kathmandu District Court against 13 individuals including former minister and operator of Kalika Construction, Bikram Pandey. Most of those defendants have already been released on bail.
