Banking News – The Health Insurance Board is set to make the health insurance program more organized, technology-friendly, and effective. The Board’s second meeting made important decisions related to digital reform of the health insurance program.

The meeting decided to make the National Identity Card mandatory for new enrollment, renewal, and receiving health insurance services for citizens who have completed 16 years of age, starting from the upcoming Poush 1. Similarly, a decision has been made to issue a public notice requiring all insured families under the general and targeted categories to mandatorily update their details through the HIB e-portal.

The Board expects that the use of the National Identity Card will help ensure the identity of the insured, control duplicate enrollment, make identity verification effective, and make claim management more reliable. The Health Insurance Board has stated that these decisions will move the health insurance program toward a digital identity, digital claims, and strategic purchasing system.
