Banking News – Air service at Resunga Airport has resumed from today. The airport had been affected for about four months due to adverse weather conditions. Suman Thapa, Station Chief of Resunga Airport in Gulmi, informed that flights in the district had been obstructed since the third week of Jestha last year. He stated that the air service had to be halted because of the possibility of operational problems due to bad weather, thick fog, and wind pressure.

With the resumption of air service, an aircraft carrying 13 passengers from Kathmandu landed in Gulmi on Tuesday, and returned to Kathmandu carrying two passengers from Gulmi. Nepal Airlines Corporation has set a new schedule to operate flights three days a week as the weather has become favorable. The long disruption of air service had caused significant hardship for elderly people, patients, and passengers who had to travel to the capital Kathmandu for urgent work.

Nepal Airlines Corporation has been operating Kathmandu-Gulmi and Gulmi-Kathmandu flights with an 18-seat Twin Otter aircraft. The Corporation has also changed the flight schedule times from today. According to this, on Sunday and Tuesday, flights from Kathmandu to Resunga are at 7:15 AM and from Resunga to Kathmandu at 8:15 AM, while on Friday, flights from Kathmandu to Resunga are at 6:20 AM and from Resunga to Kathmandu at 7:20 AM.

The Corporation has set the airfare at Rs 10,710 from Kathmandu to Gulmi and Rs 10,510 from Gulmi to Kathmandu. With the start of air service in Gulmi, movement of domestic and foreign tourists has also become easier. For citizens of this area, for whom it takes 12 to 16 hours to reach the capital by road, the air service has made it convenient to travel to Kathmandu in just 45 to 50 minutes.

Nepal Airlines Corporation had started commercial air service in Gulmi from Baisakh 29, 2080. It is said that recently, after the increase in fuel prices, the upgrade of road infrastructure, and the easy availability of comfortable public transportation, the number of passengers traveling by air from Resunga Airport has decreased.
