Banking News – Two projects created by Nepali developer Niraj Bhusal — “Gati Alerts” and “Rasuwa Flood Bulletin” — have been listed among GitHub’s best open-source projects of 2026. These projects, focused on public information flow and disaster management, have been included in GitHub’s “Octoverse 2026” report.
Bhusal created the “Gati” platform to deliver official information issued by government agencies to citizens quickly and reliably. It integrates and disseminates information from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the National Emergency Operation Center, and Nepal Police in accordance with the CAP 1.2 standard.

“Gati” delivers official information from government sources to citizens along with their sources and timestamps without issuing warnings on its own. It includes features allowing citizens to send disaster-related information, an AI system called “Ask Gati” based on official data, earthquake and weather updates, and trekking safety checks.
Earlier, during the flood in the Bhote Koshi-Trishuli River on Bhadau 10, 2083, Bhusal had brought the “Rasuwa Flood Bulletin” into operation. That bulletin included information on the flood situation, details of rescued Nepali and foreign citizens, and damage information.
