Kathmandu – Surendra Raj Regmi, CEO of Nepal’s leading financial institution, Global IME Bank, has been elected unopposed as the Vice President of the Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA). With no other nominations submitted, Regmi’s selection was automatic.

Regmi has been serving as the CEO of Global IME Bank since September 1, 2024. Following NBA traditions, he is anticipated to assume the presidency in the next term.

Currently, Santosh Koirala, CEO of Machhapuchhre Bank, is taking over as the NBA President. After Koirala’s two-year tenure, Regmi is expected to step into the role of President if there are no other contenders.

Professional Achievements

Regmi’s banking career spans over 35 years, including his tenure as Deputy CEO at Global IME Bank. He has extensive experience in trade policy, industrial loans, debt recovery, branch operations, credit risk, and administration.

Academically, Regmi holds an MBA from the University of Wales, UK (2001), and a Master’s in Economics from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He joined Global IME Bank in April 2008 as a Deputy Manager and has participated in numerous national and international banking programs. He is highly regarded for his expertise in merger management and credit investments.
