Kathmandu – The joint initiative of ICT Foundation Nepal and the Ncell Foundation has successfully concluded the ‘ICT Gyan’ program across all seven provinces, aiming to enhance digital literacy throughout Nepal. Launched on Jestha 16 (May 29, 2025), the program was designed to extend the reach of digital education across the country.
The campaign was conducted in multiple local governments across the provinces—Morang (Koshi Province), Sarlahi (Madhesh Province), Dolakha (Bagmati Province), Syangja (Gandaki Province), Pyuthan (Lumbini Province), Salyan (Karnali Province), and Kailali (Sudurpaschim Province)—where more than 2,000 participants including teachers, students, local representatives, experts, and residents took part.
The sessions emphasized critical digital safety practices, such as:
- Never sharing OTP codes with others
- Using only verified mobile apps
- Authenticating official websites before use
- Avoiding sharing personal data with unauthorized individuals
- Not conducting digital transactions over public Wi-Fi
- Creating strong, complex passwords and updating them regularly
- Enabling two-factor authentication
- Refraining from posting sensitive documents like citizenship or national ID cards on social media
Participants, especially teachers, students, and local representatives, called for wider implementation of such digital literacy programs. Conducted under Ncell’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, ‘ICT Gyan’ is believed to have played a crucial role in narrowing the digital divide that comes with rapid technological advancement.
By providing practical training in cybersecurity, digital tools, e-governance, and fintech, the program contributed to building a more digitally inclusive society and a tech-friendly environment.
