KATHMANDU – Despite facing losses in the billions, Coca-Cola producer Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) and Bottlers Nepal Terai continue to see their share prices remain relatively high. In fiscal year 2081/82 (2024/25), both companies reported heavy losses, yet their stock prices stand at Rs 11,000 and Rs 16,000 per share, respectively.
Currently, Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) shares are trading above Rs 15,700 per unit, while Bottlers Nepal Terai shares are trading above Rs 11,500 per unit. At one point, Bottlers Nepal Terai’s shares had surged as high as Rs 17,000 per share.
The companies’ share values had previously peaked at Rs 17,000 per share in Poush 2078 (early 2022). Since then, prices have been on a continuous downward trend, though they still remain above Rs 11,000 in today’s market.
According to the latest financial report, the company is in a negative position by Rs 600 million, leaving it unable to distribute dividends to shareholders this year. However, a limited group of investors are reportedly engaging in “cornering” tactics to artificially maintain share prices.
Similarly, Bottlers Nepal (Balaju), which posted a Rs 400 million loss in FY 2081/82, continues to see its share price above Rs 15,700 despite the losses. The company’s stock, which had once reached Rs 23,000 per share in Falgun 2080 (early 2024), has steadily declined, now trading around Rs 15,000.
Even within this year alone, the company’s stock price has experienced a sharp decline. In Baisakh 2082 (April 2025), shares were trading around Rs 18,000, but have since dropped by nearly Rs 3,000.
Earnings Per Share (EPS) Turns Negative
With mounting losses, the companies’ Earnings Per Share (EPS) have also turned negative. Bottlers Nepal (Balaju), which had posted EPS of Rs 1.80 per share in the previous year, has now recorded a negative EPS of Rs 1.77 per share.
Likewise, Bottlers Nepal Terai, which had reported EPS of Rs 3.29 in the previous fiscal year, ended FY 2081/82 with a negative EPS of Rs 5.02 per share.
