Insurance Discourse: FNCCI President Dhakal to Attend Inaugural Session

Kathmandu – President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, is set to participate in the inaugural session of the Third Insurance Discourse 2026. The event, jointly organized by Banking Samachar and News of Insurance, will be held on Magh 7.

Dhakal, the founder of IME Group, rose through the ranks of FNCCI, serving as a member, vice president, senior vice president, before being elected president. He began his professional career with Swastik Heritage, a Pepsi-Cola distribution company, and is now widely recognized as a successful entrepreneur.

Dhakal has also worked at Rastriya Banijya Bank. At present, more than two dozen businesses and industrial enterprises affiliated with the IME Group founded by Dhakal are established in Nepal as well as in international markets.

Dhakal had also participated in the Insurance Discourse organized by Banking Samachar last year, where he emphasized the significant role of the insurance sector in Nepal’s economic development.

The Third Insurance Discourse, with Reliable Nepal Life as the Title Sponsor, will be held on Magh 7 at Hotel Yak & Yeti, Kathmandu. The event is powered by Fonepay, Sun Nepal Life, and SuryaJyoti Life. Representatives from regulatory bodies, insurance companies, banks and financial institutions, insurance experts, and other distinguished stakeholders are expected to attend.

Key discussion topics will include bancassurance: policy, regulation, and market realities; access to healthcare and the future of health insurance in Nepal; insurtech innovation and integrating insurance into everyday lifestyles; and the roadmap for restructuring and transforming the insurance industry for modern living.

In addition, a special session titled “Economics of Insurance” will be held, featuring Vice Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, Dr. Prakash Kumar Shrestha.
