Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyay has said that the conclusions of the Insurance Discourse will play a supportive role in the formulation of fiscal and monetary policies for the upcoming fiscal year.

Addressing the Third National Insurance Discourse 2026, jointly organized by Banking Samachar and News of Insurance, Secretary Upadhyay stated that the outcomes of the discourse would be helpful during the process of drafting both fiscal and monetary policies.

He said, “The discourse has made us more aware of issues related to government physical infrastructure. We have already initiated insurance for public transportation this time. In the coming days, we will continue insurance coverage for physical infrastructure as well. This will help expand the scope of the insurance sector.”

The Third Insurance Discourse, with Reliable Nepal Life as the main sponsor, is being held at the Yak and Yeti Hotel, Kathmandu. The event is powered by fonepay, with Sanima Life and SuryaJyoti Life as supporting partners. The program has the participation of representatives from regulatory bodies, insurance companies, banks and financial institutions, insurance experts, and other distinguished personalities from various sectors.

Discussions at the event will focus on topics such as bancassurance: policy, regulation, and market realities; the future roadmap for restructuring and transforming the insurance industry for modern lifestyles; access to healthcare and the future of health insurance in Nepal; and insurtech innovation—transforming insurance into a necessity and lifestyle choice in Nepal.
