Kathmandu — Global Equity Fund, Nepal’s first dedicated private equity and venture capital fund manager, has celebrated its 7th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in the country’s evolving financial landscape.
Established shortly after the introduction of the Specialized Investment Fund Regulation by the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) in 2019, Global Equity Fund was among the first to apply for a license under the new framework. At the time, private equity and venture capital were largely unfamiliar concepts in Nepal.
In its early years, the fund played a key role not only in building its own investment platform but also in educating the broader ecosystem—including regulators, financial institutions, entrepreneurs, and investors—about alternative asset classes and their potential to transform Nepal’s economy.
Over the past seven years, the sector has experienced rapid growth, emerging as one of the fastest-expanding segments within Nepal’s financial industry. Industry observers note that both the depth and breadth of private equity and venture capital activities have increased significantly, signaling strong momentum for the future.
Reflecting on the journey, the leadership of Global Equity Fund expressed pride in having contributed to shaping the industry from its early stages to its current position as a growing and dynamic sector.
On the occasion of the anniversary, the organization extended gratitude to mentors, partners, early investors, regulatory bodies, and team members whose collective efforts helped establish the foundation of the fund and the wider ecosystem.
Looking ahead, Global Equity Fund aims to continue playing a leading role in fostering investment, innovation, and entrepreneurship in Nepal, as it enters its next phase of growth.
