Banking news — Journalist Nikesh Khatri has been appointed as the moderator for the third thematic session of the 4th National Banking Discourse 2026, scheduled to be held on June 10 (Jestha 27).
Organized jointly by Banking Samachar and Banking News, the annual discourse will bring together regulators, bankers, policymakers and industry experts to discuss key issues shaping Nepal’s financial sector.
Khatri, who serves as News Chief of Banking Samachar and News of Insurance, will moderate a session titled “Sustainability of Development Banks: Contributions, Competition and Policy.” With nearly a decade of experience in economic journalism, he is also the General Secretary of the Nepal Association of Financial Journalists (NAFIJ).
The panel discussion will feature Bishrut Thapa, Executive Director of Nepal Rastra Bank, Sudip Acharya, Chairman of Kamana Sewa Bikas Bank, Suyog Shrestha, President of the Development Bankers Association Nepal, and Dr. Indra Kumar Kattel, Chief Executive Officer of Excel Development Bank.
The 4th National Banking Discourse 2026, being held under the theme “Expanding Our Horizons: Embracing Change,” will comprise an inaugural session and five thematic discussions.
Among the key topics to be explored are strengthening business confidence and mobilizing excess liquidity, expanding investment in agriculture through cooperation among banks, the government and the private sector, the future of banking with a focus on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and fintech, and the sustainability of development banks in the face of increasing competition and evolving policy frameworks.
