Banking News — Police have arrested a woman accused of defrauding a victim of Rs. 1.55 million by falsely claiming to be a police officer.

The suspect has been identified as Dipika Bohora Tamang, a resident of Ilam District.
According to police, Bohora allegedly introduced herself as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Nepal Police and showed photographs of herself wearing a police uniform to gain the victim’s trust. She then allegedly made various promises and persuaded the victim to transfer a total of Rs. 1.55 million in multiple transactions through her eSewa account and mobile banking services.
A police team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested her from Gongabu.
Police said the suspect has been handed over to the Kathmandu District Police Range, Bhadrakali, for further investigation and necessary legal action.
