PM Shah Commits to Stronger Collaboration with Private Sector for Economic Growth


Banking News – Prime Minister Balendra Shah has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working closely with the private sector to strengthen Nepal’s economy, improve the investment climate, and promote sustainable economic growth.

During a high-level meeting with representatives of the private sector held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Wednesday, Prime Minister Shah discussed measures to revitalize economic activity, facilitate industrial and business operations, create a more investment-friendly environment, remove policy and procedural bottlenecks, boost private sector confidence, generate employment, and increase domestic production.

Addressing the meeting, the Prime Minister described the private sector as a key partner in Nepal’s economic development, investment expansion, job creation, and production growth. He assured business leaders that the government is ready to address the practical challenges faced by industries and entrepreneurs.

Shah also pledged to prioritize policy, legal, and administrative reforms aimed at creating a more business-friendly environment and encouraging private sector participation in the country’s economic development.

During the discussion, representatives from the private sector emphasized the need to promote industrial and business activities, expand investment, ensure policy stability, simplify public service delivery, and establish regular, result-oriented dialogue between the government and the business community.

Responding to the suggestions, Prime Minister Shah said the government would seriously consider the recommendations and implement necessary reforms and facilitation measures through the concerned agencies. He reiterated that the government would move forward in partnership with the private sector to advance Nepal’s economic reform agenda.

The meeting was attended by Anjan Shrestha, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI); Ujjwal Kumar Shrestha, Chair of the FNCCI Industry Committee; Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, Immediate Past President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI); Dr. Ghanshyam Ojha, Director General of CNI; Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal, President of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC); and Deepak Malhotra, Senior Vice President of the NCC.

Also present were Kumar Byanjankar, Chief Advisor at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers; Bibek Mishra, Information and Communications Technology Advisor; Subash Sharma, Chief Personal Secretary to the Prime Minister; and Bidushi Rana, Member of the House of Representatives.

According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the meeting is expected to strengthen cooperation between the government and the private sector while supporting investment-friendly policymaking and the promotion of industry and business across the country.
