Banking News – Police in Morang have arrested two individuals on charges of producing fake Nepali citizenship certificates as part of an ongoing investigation into document forgery.

The suspects have been identified as Dhandev Rajbanshi and Ashok Kumar Shrestha, both residents of Morang.

According to police, the case came to light after 30-year-old Manisha Kumari Kamat, originally from Dadha Rural Municipality-3, Saptari, and currently residing in Biratnagar-14, visited the Morang District Administration Office to apply for a National Identity Card. During the application process, she submitted a Nepali citizenship certificate issued on May 12, 2011 (Baisakh 29, 2068 BS).

Officials at the administration office found the citizenship certificate suspicious during a preliminary verification and immediately informed the police.

Acting on the information, a joint team from the Morang District Police Office and the Biratnagar Ward Police Office conducted a search at New Dolly Photo Services, a photo studio located in Mahendrachowk, Biratnagar-11, which was operated by Dhandev Rajbanshi.

During the search, police recovered 12 Nepali citizenship certificates issued in the names of various individuals, 20 driver’s licenses, two mobile phones, one computer CPU, two monitors, NPR 3,540 in cash, 10 blank birth registration forms, one marriage registration form, one death registration form, and a stamp bearing the name “New Dolly Photo Services Biratnagar.”

Police have taken both suspects into custody and said further investigation into the alleged forgery network is underway.
