Banking News – Police have arrested a man from Nuwakot on charges of hacking Facebook accounts and using them to defraud people by posing as the account owners.

The accused has been identified as Bibek Sunar, a resident of Likhu Rural Municipality-4, Nuwakot, who is currently living in Balaju, Kathmandu.
According to police, Sunar illegally accessed victims’ Facebook accounts and impersonated them to deceive their relatives and friends into sending money. He allegedly exploited the trust between victims and their contacts to carry out the fraudulent scheme.
A team from the Cyber Bureau arrested Sunar and has launched an investigation under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063.
Police said the Kathmandu District Court has granted a five-day remand to facilitate further investigation into the case.
