Mechanical Crane to Be Sent to Karnali to Address Repeated Power Outages

Banking News – The government has decided to send a mechanical crane to Karnali Province to address the recurring problem of power outages. The decision was made following the initiative of Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha to improve electricity supply in the province.

According to the ministry, repeated power disruptions caused by line tripping in Karnali Province and the need for a mechanical crane for maintenance work prompted the decision. During a field visit to five districts across three provinces two weeks ago, Minister Shrestha was informed about the frequent electricity interruptions in Surkhet and other parts of Karnali caused by line tripping, as well as the lack of a mechanical crane required for repair work.

During the visit, the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Karnali Province Chief drew the minister’s attention to the issue. Upon returning to Kathmandu, Minister Shrestha coordinated with the concerned authority to arrange the dispatch of the mechanical crane needed to resolve the electricity supply problem.

“Coordination to address the electricity issues in Karnali Province is now yielding results. After completing the necessary procedures and servicing, it has been decided to provide the mechanical crane currently stationed at the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Transformer Workshop in Kharipati to Karnali Province,” Minister Shrestha said.

He added that the decision will reduce the need to bring equipment from other provinces during service disruptions, making electricity maintenance and service delivery faster, easier, and more effective. Minister Shrestha also said that efforts to resolve practical problems in public service delivery will continue.
