Banking News – Nine patients from Darchula have undergone free cataract surgery with financial support and facilitation from Shangrila Development Bank under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

The beneficiaries were identified during free eye screening camps organized on Baisakh 29 and 30, 2083 (May 12–13, 2026) at Darchula District Hospital and Duhu Rural Municipality. Of the 11 patients diagnosed as requiring cataract surgery, nine recently underwent successful operations at Geta Eye Hospital in Dadeldhura.

Although all 11 patients were taken to the hospital for treatment, surgeries could not be performed on two individuals due to their health conditions.

During the two eye camps, more than 700 people received free eye examinations. In addition, 487 people were provided with free eyeglasses, while 600 patients received free medicines.

Shangrila Development Bank said the initiative reflects its continued commitment to improving community health and expanding access to essential healthcare services through its CSR programs.

The bank currently operates 109 branch offices and 30 ATMs across Nepal. It stated that it remains committed to strengthening institutional governance, risk management, and internal control systems while continuing to expand its banking services nationwide.
