Banking News – Laxmi Sunrise Bank has partnered with WWF Nepal and the Kamdi Community Forest Coordination Committee (Kamdi CFCC) to strengthen its environmental initiative, ‘The Goal is Green,’ by planting 333 native tree saplings matching the total number of goals scored during the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The campaign links the excitement of football with environmental conservation, with the bank committing to plant one native tree for every goal scored throughout the tournament. Following the 333 goals recorded during the World Cup, the bank will now fulfill its pledge by planting 333 indigenous saplings.

Under the partnership, WWF Nepal will provide technical support, including the selection of suitable native species, identification of appropriate plantation sites, and guidance on ecological restoration. Meanwhile, Kamdi CFCC will oversee the planting, long-term conservation, and management of the saplings in line with local biodiversity needs.

Laxmi Sunrise Bank CEO Ajaya Shah said sustainability remains one of the bank’s long-term strategic priorities, adding that ‘The Goal is Green’ campaign successfully connects the passion for sports with climate action and environmental conservation. He also expressed confidence that WWF Nepal’s conservation expertise would enhance the campaign’s long-term impact and sustainability.

WWF Nepal Country Representative Dr. Ghanshyam Gurung emphasized that forest restoration goes beyond planting trees, requiring the right native species to be planted in suitable locations while ensuring long-term participation from local communities.

Kamdi CFCC Chairman Mahendra Shahi said the collaboration would strengthen efforts to restore ecological corridors while delivering lasting environmental and community benefits.

According to the bank, the ‘The Goal is Green’ campaign reflects its commitment to integrating sustainability with financial services by encouraging customers, businesses, and communities to participate in collective climate action and contribute to building a greener future for Nepal.
