Banking News – The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration has initiated the process of establishing Land Banks at the local government level to bring unused and barren private land into productive use.

According to the secretariat of Minister for Land Management Pratibha Rawal, the initiative aims to mobilize idle private land for productive economic activities and enhance land utilization across the country.

In a public notice, the ministry stated that the program will be implemented in accordance with the Land Use Act, 2019 (2076 BS) and the Land Use Regulations, 2022 (Third Amendment, 2082 BS).

Under the existing legal framework, local governments will be authorized to facilitate the productive use of privately owned land that has remained unused or uncultivated, with the objective of increasing agricultural production, promoting efficient land management, and supporting local economic development.
