Banking News – Five legal cases have been filed against four food manufacturing industries in Chitwan for producing and selling substandard food products, according to the Food Technology and Quality Control Division Office.

The office filed the cases with the District Administration Office, with two cases registered against Rijal Foods & Beverage, located in Ratnanagar, after laboratory tests found its Dalmoth and Namkeen Mixture (Dalmoth) products to be below the required quality standards.

According to Information Officer Bandana Pant, Omkar Oil Industries of Khairahani has also been charged after its mustard oil produced from imported mustard seeds failed to meet the prescribed quality standards.

Similarly, Naulo Foods Industries of Bharatpur, which produces CTC tea, and Acharya Food Industry of Ratnanagar, which manufactures pickled sour products (Chuk Amilo), each face one legal case over substandard food quality.

The industries have been charged under the Food Hygiene and Quality Act, 2025 (2081 BS).

During the last fiscal year, the Food Technology and Quality Control Division Office conducted 10 surprise food safety inspections, 92 food market inspections, 20 animal feed market inspections, and 63 inspections of hotels and restaurants.

The office also inspected 87 food industries and 22 feed industries, in addition to conducting four inspections at fairs and trade exhibitions, 11 inspections of dietary supplement products, and eight inspections of school and hospital canteens.

Furthermore, the office organized stakeholder interaction programs, training sessions, and other food safety awareness initiatives to strengthen food quality and consumer protection.
