Banking News – Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has raised serious concerns over the government’s handling of the recent developments in Sunsari, saying the administration must demonstrate leadership rather than relying solely on security measures and public statements.

Speaking to journalists after an all-party meeting held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday morning, Thapa questioned the government’s visibility and effectiveness in responding to the ongoing situation.

“Where is the government? What is it doing? The government should not be visible only through bullets and batons, nor should it be confined to social media status updates,” Thapa said.

Thapa stressed that the government must act not only as a guardian of the people but also as a leader capable of guiding the nation during times of crisis. He emphasized the importance of dialogue, coordination, and cooperation to address the current situation.

According to Thapa, the true strength of leadership lies in building trust among stakeholders and creating an environment for constructive collaboration.

He further said that the Prime Minister should take the initiative by convening an all-party meeting, consulting with the President, and maintaining continuous dialogue with provincial and local governments to help resolve the crisis.

Recalling past practices during disasters and other sensitive situations, Thapa noted that political parties had previously come together at Singha Durbar to seek solutions through dialogue. He said a similar collaborative approach is necessary to restore stability and public confidence.
