Banking News – Nepal Police have arrested two individuals on charges of extorting money from a foreign national through intimidation and assault at a dance club in Kathmandu.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mahesh Rokaya of Kanchanpur, operator of Bollywood Dance Club in Lazimpat, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-2, and Surendra Shrestha of Nuwakot.

According to the Kathmandu District Police Range, a joint team from the district police and the Tourist Police Office, Bhrikutimandap, launched the operation after receiving information that an Indian national had been assaulted at the club and forced to pay an inflated bill through mobile banking into the club’s account.

Police said that while conducting inquiries and attempting to resolve the situation at the scene, the two suspects used abusive language against police officers, physically assaulted them, and obstructed official police duties.

The suspects are currently being investigated under charges of indecent behavior (public misconduct). Police said they have obtained a four-day remand from the District Administration Office to continue the investigation.
