One Killed by Gunfire During Protest in Siraha’s Golbazar


Banking News – A young man was killed after being struck by a bullet during a protest in Golbazar, Siraha, on Thursday, local authorities confirmed.

Chet Raj Baral, Assistant Chief District Officer at the Siraha District Administration Office, confirmed the fatality, stating that the identity of the deceased has not yet been established.

Following the incident, angry protesters placed the victim’s body on the road and continued their demonstration, preventing security personnel from removing it.

“The protesters have not allowed the body to be taken away. They have kept it on the road,” Baral said.

Meanwhile, Nepal Police denied firing live rounds during efforts to control the protest. According to the administration, security forces used only warning shots fired into the air and tear gas to disperse the crowd.

Authorities said it remains unclear where the bullet that struck the victim originated, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.

Following the incident, senior officials from the district’s security agencies arrived in Golbazar. Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, and other security personnel have been deployed to bring the tense situation under control.

The administration said further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
