Banking News – The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case at the Special Court, Kathmandu, against Rakesh Kumar Das, a Computer Engineer at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), Dharan, for allegedly securing a government job using forged academic certificates.

According to the CIAA, Das submitted an Intermediate-level certificate purportedly issued by the Bihar School Examination Board, Patna, India, and a Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science) degree claimed to have been obtained from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, India during his appointment process. The anti-graft body said both academic certificates were found to be fraudulent during its investigation.

The CIAA stated that Das obtained employment at BPKIHS based on the fake certificates and continued to hold the position for an extended period, receiving salary, allowances, and other government benefits.

Concluding that his actions constitute an offence under Section 16(1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002 (2059 BS), the CIAA has sought imprisonment and fines as prescribed by the law through a charge sheet filed at the Special Court, Kathmandu.
