Banking News – The bodies of renowned Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja “Nims Dai” and three fellow climbers who lost their lives in an avalanche on Broad Peak, the world’s 12th-highest mountain in Pakistan, have been recovered and brought to the base camp.

The recovery was confirmed by Mingma David Sherpa, Nims Dai’s business partner and a member of Nepal’s House of Representatives. According to him, the bodies of Nirmal Purja, Zhong Wang, Nima Sherpa, and Kilu Sherpa were successfully retrieved following a high-risk rescue operation carried out under extremely challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions.

According to Elite Exped, the expedition company founded by Nims Dai, the recovery mission was led by Mingma David Sherpa. The company stated that the rescue team, including Sirbaz Khan and other personnel on the ground, demonstrated exceptional courage, professionalism, and dedication throughout the operation.

Elite Exped also expressed its gratitude to the Pakistan Army, the Government of Pakistan, the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan, local authorities, the British High Commission, the Embassy of Nepal, the Alpine Club of Pakistan, and everyone who supported the rescue mission.

In a statement, the company described the repatriation of Nims Dai’s body as more than the recovery of a mountaineer, calling it an effort to bring home a husband, father, son, brother, friend, and the driving force behind the Elite Exped, Nimsdai Foundation, Nimsdai Store, and Skydive Nimsdai family.

With the recovery of the bodies of Nirmal Purja, Zhong Wang, Nima Sherpa, and Kilu Sherpa, arrangements are now underway to return them to their families for their final rites.

The company also extended its condolences to the families of the remaining three climbers and pledged to continue search and recovery efforts as soon as conditions allow.

A powerful avalanche struck the Broad Peak region last Thursday, leaving 10 climbers missing. Authorities have since confirmed that all of them lost their lives, making the incident one of the deadliest mountaineering disasters in Pakistan in recent years.
