Banking News – Ayam Intercontinental, a company under the Himalayan Organization, is set to introduce Dongfeng electric buses to the Nepali market at the upcoming NADA Auto Expo 2026 in Kathmandu.

The company will showcase two electric bus models from Dongfeng, a major Chinese automobile manufacturer, at the expo scheduled to begin on Bhadra 26 at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.

According to the company, Dongfeng is a major state-owned automobile manufacturer in China, established in 1969. The company produces passenger and commercial vehicles, buses, trucks, electric vehicles and various automobile components. Its products are exported to more than 100 countries, while Dongfeng-branded trucks, cars and microbuses are already available in Nepal.

Ayam Intercontinental said it is introducing Dongfeng electric buses in response to the growing demand for electric public transportation in Nepal and the government’s policy of promoting electric vehicles.

At the expo, the company plans to showcase 7.2-meter-long electric buses with seating capacity for 26 to 30 passengers. It also plans to introduce 9-meter and 12-meter buses with capacities of 38 and 52 passengers, respectively, to the Nepali market in the near future.

The price and detailed technical specifications of the buses will be unveiled during the NADA Auto Expo. The company said the new electric buses will be offered at competitive prices compared with similar models currently available in Nepal.

Customers booking the buses during the expo will also receive special promotional discounts, according to the company.

Ayam Intercontinental said after-sales services and spare parts will be available through branch offices and dealer networks under the Himalayan Organization across different cities in Nepal.

The launch comes as Nepal’s electric vehicle and electric public transport market continues to expand, with growing interest in cleaner and more efficient transportation solutions.
