Banking News – Victims of microfinance and financial exploitation who had been staging a protest in front of the National Human Rights Commission office in Pulchowk, Lalitpur, returned to their homes on Sunday following a 14-point agreement with the Government of Nepal. The protest and agitation programs were suspended after the agreement was reached during talks held on August 22 between the government and the National, Nationality, Religion, Culture, and Citizen Protection Mega Campaign, Nepal.

The agreement was signed by Leeladhar Subedi, Under-Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and Coordinator of the government’s negotiation team, and Bishnu Bohora Kshetri, Coordinator of the negotiation committee representing the Mega Campaign. Following the agreement, the government began sending the protesters back to their destinations on Sunday morning using Sajha Yatayat buses. In the presence of officials from various government agencies, 323 victims were sent off in eight Sajha buses.
The victims, who had come to Kathmandu from districts including Jhapa, Morang, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Sindhuli, Bara, Parsa, and Nawalparasi, were transported back to their respective areas. They had launched the agitation demanding solutions to problems related to microfinance, banking and financial exploitation, cooperatives, loan sharking, and land-related issues.
