Banking News – The Education Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City has issued a 35-day notice regarding the cancellation of permits or approvals of 92 institutional (private) schools.

The department has directed schools operating within the metropolitan area that have obtained permits or approvals under existing laws but have now reached a condition warranting cancellation to submit their details along with the required documents within 35 days.

Nawaraj Dhakal, Chief of the Education Department, stated that the notice was published as the conditions for cancellation of school permits or approvals under Section 36 of the Education Act, 2075 have arisen. He made it clear that if satisfactory responses are not received within the specified period, the process to revoke the permits or approvals of the schools will be initiated.

Earlier too, the metropolitan city had decided to revoke permits of institutional schools that were registered but not operating, following on-site monitoring. The municipal education committee’s meeting had decided to initiate the cancellation process for schools that existed only on paper and were not actually operational.

The metropolitan city has been proceeding with actions related to the operation of institutional schools, addition of classes and subjects, changes in name, location, and ownership in accordance with the law and prescribed standards.
