Banking News – Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki has stated that all criminal incidents occurring in society remain in the police organization’s institutional memory, and perpetrators involved in such incidents can be brought under legal action at any time. He also mentioned that individuals involved in such incidents have been arrested and prosecuted even after decades. In an interview with Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), IGP Karki said that the police organization, which carries a long history, does not forget such incidents.

“Individual memories fade over time. But the police is an institution that continuously fights for justice for individuals. This institution does not forget such incidents,” he said. However, IGP Karki acknowledged that the desired level of success has not been achieved in such cases.
“The police organization has been working to bring those involved in such incidents under legal scrutiny through study and continuous investigation of those old cases,” he said. Informing that special teams have been formed to investigate old high-profile cases, he also shared that good success has been achieved in some of those cases. IGP Karki informed that investigations into old heinous crimes are ongoing through the Central Investigation Bureau. “We are continuing investigations into both new and old cases simultaneously.”
Analyzing that the changing society, technology, and work culture globally are adding to security challenges, IGP Karki said that traditional investigation methods alone cannot address modernity. “We have recently developed performance indicators to automate and motivate police personnel,” he said. “This is predictable. Evaluation is based on work performance, which gives individuals the opportunity to improve.”
IGP Karki mentioned that the police service is being made technology-friendly, ensuring that citizens do not need to visit police offices. “Systems have been developed to make it easy for citizens to submit applications and complaints from their homes and track them as well,” he said.
Noting that technology-related and financial crimes have been increasing recently, he said the need for recruitment and deployment of human resources accordingly has been felt to investigate such cases. IGP Karki stated that necessary coordination has been made with police organizations in various countries and specialized, developed, and popular investigative units through Interpol to neutralize the global network of crime.
“Nepal Police, adopting modern policing standards, is coordinating with members of specialized police organizations in other countries,” said IGP Karki. He expressed confidence that the police organization would be capable of preventing criminal activities committed through the use of technology. Noting that Nepal Police is the organization that represents the state while staying closest to the citizens, IGP Karki expressed expectations of support from all levels and sections of society to maintain peace, order, and harmony and protect the lives and property of citizens. “The cooperation of citizens is always expected to achieve success in the responsibilities entrusted to the police,” he said. “I urge everyone to support the police by providing information about individuals with criminal tendencies.”
