Banking News – Stakeholders in the tourism sector have submitted suggestions on the Tourism Bill, covering issues ranging from climber insurance to controlling fake rescues. During Monday’s meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee regarding the Tourism Bill, 2081, they emphasized the overall development of the tourism sector.

Phurba Gelje Sherpa, President of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, informed that the association has 2,260 climbers, workers, and individuals involved in tourism promotion as members, and emphasized that all problems in the tourism sector must be addressed.

Sagar Pandey, President of the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN), stated that over 300,000 tourists go on treks annually, with more than 300,000 people directly employed in the sector. He suggested formulating laws keeping the trekking sector in consideration.

Maya Sherpa, President of the Sagarmatha Climbers Association, stressed the need to ensure climber safety and called for the establishment of a climbers’ fund. Dambar Parajuli, President of the Himalayan Rescue Association Nepal, emphasized the need for legal provisions to put an end to “fake rescues.”

Representatives from the Nepal National Mountain Guide Association, Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee, Expedition Operators Association Nepal, and other tourism-related organizations also provided suggestions on the bill.
