Banking News – A case has been filed against an individual on charges of theft at the residence of former Governor Mahaprasad Adhikari in Baisepati, Lalitpur, during the Gen Z movement. The Government Attorney’s Office has filed the case against Vijay Ram (also known as Vijay Mahara Chamar), a 31-year-old resident of Vrindavan Municipality, Rautahat, at the Lalitpur District Court.

Former Governor Adhikari had filed a complaint claiming that unknown individuals had entered his house on the second day of the Gen Z movement and vandalized, set fire to, and looted property worth approximately Rs 1.50 crore. According to the complaint, the incident resulted in damage to the house, furniture, two vehicles, and various valuables inside. It was alleged that approximately 35 tolas of gold ornaments, silver coins, and about Rs 3 lakh in cash were missing from a room on the second floor.

In his statement to police, Chamar stated that he was not directly involved in the movement. He said that after closing his shoe repair shop in Baisepati, he went to Adhikari’s house after seeing a large crowd and a fire there. According to his statement, after seeing people entering the house and taking out items, he also went inside, picked up scattered gold and silver ornaments from the floor, and took them to his rented room where he hid them.

Chamar stated in his statement that he did not set fire to or vandalize the house, and that he had no knowledge of the vandalism and looting carried out by others. He mentioned that he had only taken ornaments from the house, some of which were later recovered. About a year later, when he tried to return a pair of earrings that he had hidden, Adhikari caught him with the ornaments.

Police were then informed, and during the search, additional ornaments were recovered. During police investigation, Chamar admitted to stealing ornaments from the scene but denied his involvement in the vandalism and arson. He stated that he did not know the other individuals involved in the incident and that there was no planning or conspiracy involved.
