Banking News – Police have arrested 29 individuals on charges of breaking open a bank vault containing cash that was swept away by the flood in the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa and stealing lakhs of rupees. Police have recovered Rs 92,68,505 from the possession of those arrested.

According to Dhading District Police Office, the flood that struck the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa on Bhadau 10 had swept away the safe containing the cash. The safe, carried by the flood, was found on the banks of the Trishuli River in Belkhukhola, Galchi Rural Municipality-4, Dhading.

According to police, locals broke open the safe found on the riverbank and took out the cash inside. After receiving information about the incident on Friday, police teams were immediately mobilized and an investigation was initiated.

During preliminary investigation, 29 individuals suspected of involvement in the incident were taken into custody, and a search led to the recovery of Rs 92,68,505 in cash from their possession, according to Dhading District Police Office.

Most of those arrested are local residents of Wards 4 and 6 of Galchi Rural Municipality in Dhading. Additionally, individuals with permanent residences in Siddhlek Rural Municipality, as well as those from Chitwan and Parsa currently residing in the Adamghat area of Galchi, have also been arrested.

Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
