Banking News – Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen) has stated that financial and humanitarian support from international organizations for post-disaster rehabilitation and relief in Rasuwa is increasing. Through Facebook, Prime Minister Shah informed that commitments of financial, technical, and humanitarian assistance have been received from various friendly nations and international organizations.

According to him, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has committed $5 million USD in grant under budgetary support and $150,000 USD for technical assistance. Similarly, the World Bank has committed $167 million USD in concessional loans.

Prime Minister Shah stated that the US Government has committed $500,000 USD and the Australian Government has committed $1 million USD in cash assistance. Similarly, a total of 68.5 tons of humanitarian aid and essential medicines have been received from the Government of India in four phases. He informed that similar humanitarian assistance from China and the US is in the process of arriving.

In terms of infrastructure, 30 Bailey bridges have been requested from China. India sent a 230-foot long single-lane modular steel bridge on Sunday. Prime Minister Shah mentioned that India has committed to providing an additional seven Bailey bridges. Similarly, 1 million Swiss Francs in assistance has been received from Switzerland, to be spent through the United Nations.
