Banking News – Chairman of the FNCCI Capital Market Committee and Chairman of Crystal Kanchanjungha Securities, Priya Raj Regmi, has stated that the capital market has failed to fulfill its expected role of transforming savings into investment and enhancing productivity and economic prosperity.
Speaking at the first session “Product, Policy and Regulation: The Future of Nepal’s Capital Market” of the Nepal Capital Market Discourse 2026, organized by Banking Samachar with NASA Securities as the main sponsor, Regmi stated that the capital market’s focus has largely been centered only on whether the NEPSE index rises or falls.

According to him, an effective system has not been developed to mobilize savings into productive sectors through the capital market, increase productivity, and connect it with economic prosperity. Regmi also stated that industrialists and businessmen have not been able to demand capital market financial instruments according to their needs. He also said that the capital market has failed to function as expected due to lack of necessary policy facilitation for market development.
