Banking News – Although Nepal Telecom’s fiber network suffered severe damage in the Rasuwagadhi, Betrawati, and Trishuli areas due to the continuous flood on Bhadau 10, the first phase of network restoration work has been completed.

Due to the flood, two optical line terminals – one each in Rasuwagadhi and Betrawati – were damaged, along with five fiber distribution centers: one in Rasuwagadhi, one in Betrawati, and three in Trishuli. Additionally, approximately 128 kilometers of aerial optical fiber cable was swept away, completely affecting 1,544 fiber-to-the-home lines in the area.

Nepal Telecom has stated that maintenance work was expedited by mobilizing technical manpower and necessary resources immediately after the disaster. As 1,093 lines out of the 1,544 affected lines have been restored so far, the first phase of service restoration has been completed.

The company has stated that the remaining affected lines will be brought into operation gradually based on the geographical and settlement conditions of the respective areas, technical feasibility, and customer demand. Nepal Telecom has stated its commitment to providing quality telecommunications services to customers as soon as possible in this difficult situation of natural disaster.
