Kathmandu – The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested 50 Nepali nationals, along with three foreign nationals, for their involvement in cryptocurrency-related activities. The arrests were made after police received information that the suspects were operating a call center from a rented three-story house owned by Jagdish Upadhyay in Ekantakuna, Lalitpur.
The CIB has seized computers, mobile phones, and other devices used in their operations. During the initial investigation, it was discovered that the call center was using profile pictures of foreign women on various dating apps to connect with men from countries like Europe, America, and Canada. They built close friendships with these men and conducted cryptocurrency transactions through an online platform called Haspack.
The CIB further reported that the group deposited US dollars into digital wallets such as Winance and Touch Wallet to facilitate cryptocurrency investments and trading activities.
